7:30pm Secret Filmmaking Workshop (w/ 30 minute class in Meisner technique by Daniel Carsenty)

INSTRUCTIONS: E-mail community@secretmovieclub.com by January 3rd at noon to request a spot. Writers will be confirmed by January 4th; actors by January 5th. Then you can claim a pass here, and purchase your ticket at the door for $10. Specifics on submissions below!

The first Wednesday of every month, we're invite writers and actors to come in to workshop scenes and work with each other at our Secret Movie Club Theater space.

Do you have a script you’d like to hear parts of read aloud? Do you want to work on your acting chops with fellow performers? Do you want the chance to network with folks in front of and behind the camera for your next short, music video, feature, experimental project?

Well now, in a no-stress, no-pressure environment, we want to invite you to bring in your works in progress and/or come ready to do some cold readings and improvs.

Here’s how it works:

IF YOU’RE A WRITER/DIRECTOR/PRODUCER: submit a scene up to 5 pages long (limit: one scene per team) to community@secretmovieclub.com. We’ll review it. As long as it’s not intentionally mean to any group of folks and devoid of all artistic merit you'll be considered for a spot. Up to 2 people from your team can attend (the writer and the director, the producer and the writer, etc) if confirmed via e-mail.

Please include: A 1-3 sentence logline of the scene. The genre of the piece. And a 1-3 sentence description for each character so we can pair your script with the best performers.

Filmmakers will get confirmed on a first come first serve basis, up to 6 scripts. So if we fill up, we’ll put you on the wait list and/or confirm your place in next month’s workshop.

PLEASE ATTEND the workshop if you get your place confirmed or email us ASAP to free your space. If you confirm and don’t show up, we can’t let you into future workshops. We need dependable folks!

IF YOU’RE AN ACTOR: Please submit your headshot and resume to community@secretmovieclub.com. Once we’ve locked in the scenes, we’ll reach out to performers on a first submitted, first approached basis. If we fill up our actor quota for a month, we’ll put you on the wait list or confirm you for the following month.

PLEASE ATTEND THE WORKSHOP IF YOU’RE CONFIRMED. If you suddenly can’t attend the workshop, please email us ASAP so we can offer your space to another actor.

We will make sure all actors and all writers get to workshop their scene. They’ll get “two” passes at their scene. We anticipate the night will run approximately 2.5 hours including a twenty minute break.

Finally, we ask that each accepted filmmaker and actor pay for the $10 ticket at the door. This will help us cover the basic cost of freeing up the space for a night of workshopping.

What we hope is that filmmakers and actors will connect. Each improve the work of the other. And we’ll get some movies, shorts, great cinematic works made!

So submit now!
